Baldwin County Counselor's Wiki Site

Please don't forget that we have a Wiki account to share information. Thanks, Kate Wellborn, for setting up this great resource for us to use in order to share ideas!

Dianna Wolchina's Blog

I'm sorry it's been a while since our last blog was posted, but I have some exciting news! One of our own Baldwin County Counselors has created a new blog spot to share her ideas, and they are great! Check out Dianna Wolchina's new blog at your convenience.

Notes and Data Keeping

noteCounselor

I currently found a great resource on Hanselor the Counselor's Website. These were her words...

"As I was searching my favorite blogs for back to school ideas, I came across noteCounselor.  I have explored many different ways to keep my notes that is both convenient and easily accessible.  noteCounselor has it all!  All of my notes are in one place that can be accessed from anywhere!  I have a link on my computer as well as my iPad so I can access my notes wherever I am.  Amanda Lea Chambers developed this secure note taking device especially for school counselors.

Another feature that I like about noteCounselor is that it keeps track of the amount of hours I spent on all the facets of my job.  It is actually very rewarding to look at how much I do (and we just finished the 2nd week of school)!"

This data and note keeping tool can be bought with the yearly money you receive each year from your school... I've already checked in to it and was given the "thumbs up". Therefore, this is something I plan to use with my money when we get it in October! :-) It's only $49.00 for a subscription.

Extra! Extra! ...Read all about these great resources!

Eastern Shore Parent's Magazine

The (FREE) September issue of Eastern Shore Parent's Magazine has a "Special Needs Resource Guide" in it this month. This would be a great issue to KEEP for future reference in order to share opportunities and services with parents who have children with special needs in your school. Some of the resources that the magazine provides this month are counseling services, camps, organizations, centers and financial support for children with different special needs such as; ADHD, epilepsy, social/emotional disorders, Autism, down syndrome, and the list goes on. If you would like to visit the Eastern Shore Parent's Magazine online to view this month's issue, click this link. The Resource Guide starts on page 54.

The Counselor's Room

This great website shared by Kathryn Dole can be found by clicking here. This site has many guidance lessons, group activities, games and even surveys for counselors like you and I to use in our counseling program.

Publix School Supplies

We received 8 large boxes of school bags with supplies in them from Publix last week. If you are searching for a place that can help you with school supplies for needy students, try asking your local Publix for help. We were grateful for the Publix in Gulf Shores for their generous donation!
